THE WOW EFFECT/ Vol. III

INTERIORS I Bucharest

For approximately a decade, Annterior Studio, through designers Anna Chițan and Maria Farcaș, has been creating sophisticated and comfortable spaces. Passionate about classical-style furniture pieces, as well as art and everything crafted from natural materials, Annterior leaves its mark on every project entrusted to them by instilling the feeling of “home” that we are all searching for. A “home” that transcends passing trends, remaining always fresh and contemporary, yet timeless and refined through the attention to detail expressed throughout the entire design process.

These are the reasons why the specialists at Annterior Studio were commissioned by the owner of a single-family house located in a quiet area of the capital to design a contemporary interior. The house spans approximately 270 square metres and is arranged over three levels—ground floor, first floor and attic—but it also benefits from a courtyard that has been enhanced with a winter garden (an enclosed terrace).

Although they had not known each other previously, the homeowner and the designers quickly discovered, from their very first discussions, that they shared many common ideas regarding the project. The homeowner, a young, educated person with a very mature mindset, proved to be extremely receptive to the slightly extravagant stylistic direction proposed by the designers, which combines a mix of vintage objects, art pieces and sometimes unconventional solutions.

Passionate about well-balanced contrasts, designers Anna Chițan and Maria Farcaș from Annterior Studio bring freshness and optimism to their interiors, giving them a timeless character.

The ground floor is dedicated to the living area, which includes the living room, kitchen, a separate kitchenette exclusively for food preparation, an office and a bathroom. The first floor hosts a generously sized bedroom, its en-suite bathroom and a large dressing room organised in a spacious separate area, all of which communicate naturally with one another. At the same level there is also a guest room with its own bathroom.

The living room brings together vintage pieces (such as the mid-century sideboard, the floor lamp and the coffee table) with established design objects (the Hay paper globe and the USM sideboard). The Soderhamn sofa from IKEA, fitted with a specially made linen cover, completes the living area design, which the designers describe as follows: “We strongly believe that the secret of good design lies in these contrasts and unexpected juxtapositions between old and new, mass-market and premium, established design and quality generic objects. Of course, all crowned by art.”
